Because of the advent of the internet, this old medium for introducing the public to the bands of tomorrow and what's in right now is fading fast. Does Commercial Radio still have a place in music, or do you think it's on it's way to it's grave? What are your alternatives to it?
Discuss.

I think that radio still holds it's own, but, i don't think it is as affective as it was when it comes introducing the next big thing.

KQ 92 is my bread and butter.
Radio is still vital to breaking bands mainstream. Bands can obviously make a good living w/o radio support but to headline Arenas it is vital.
Kings of Leon is a great example. The were a very big band up until the past couple years, then the had 2 radio hits and are a HUGE band.

I agree with Phil. To put a band in the national spotlight, you need traction with radio. That being said, I don't think it's as effective as it used to be. The listener pool has gone down enormously, so to sustain a career, like Kings of Leon, you need both an established fanbase, as well as a hit at some point, or risk fading into obscurity.
